Advances in Medical Devices
With some 200 patents worldwide focused on drug delivery as well as other iontophoretic applications, General Medical Company has now exceeded even the best of its previous landmark technology in this field. We believe this new technology for the pharmaceutical/ device industry will be the new standard for all topical drug delivery and related products.
General Medical Company has achieved a means of fast drug delivery that exceeds
any other iontophoretic device. With absolutely no micropuncture as others
have resorted to, General Medical's noninvasive system will deliver drugs
of large or small molecular size with exceptionally high density current.
These high density currents are not felt by the patient nor does it leave
any skin injury. This completely new technology opens a floodgate of applications
beyond drug delivery. Even passive (unpowered) patches can now be made
to deliver drugs many times faster and in greater quantity than present
patches. Before now, passive patches have been limited to small molecular
drug delivery, about 15% of drugs. Adding inexpensive cells to the patch
allows delivery of the other 85% of drugs that unpowered patches can't
deliver. Other major applications include a noninvasive glucose diagnostic system that withdraws a
measurable glucose sample within 20 seconds. General Medical Co. 1935 Armacost Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90025-5296
